sillywabbit: I played TTHW for a while and, although I liked it, I got stuck too and couldn't find help anywhere. There's not even a forum Maybe when I'm a little further on Everlong, I'll try again. But for now, I'm enjoying myself very much with Everlong.

I've only recently started playing RPGs (started with amaranth games) and Everlong is the third RPG I've ever played so I would love it if people reviewed some of these games.
I've tried playing Dark Eternal: Dissolution but my computer only has 1.00 GHz and the game lags too much for me (the game requires 1.8 - 2.00 GHz) so I gave it up. XP it has a unique battling system that's kind of confusing at first but you'll probably get used to it, i guess. I really haven't played much of the game to say anything more about it.
Ahriman's Prophecy is about a girl named Talia who goes to an oracle(?) in order to be named (find out what career she's going to have). When the oracle looks into her future, she sees an evil plot occuring (people raising evil ahriman from the dead), and sends her to Thais (without telling her the reason). Talia's grandmother makes Devin (a local town boy) go with Talia. In Thais, Talia and Devin discover that they have been sent there to train at this magic/war school. A couple years later.. blahblahblah..
Aveyond is a sequal to Ahriman's Prophecy and is about a girl named Rhen. Talia, now a priestess, is attacked by one of Ahriman's minions and left for dead. Talia transports herself to Clearwater. Rhen finds the collapsed Talia and brings her home. After she's healed, Talia gives her priestess ring to Rhen. Unfortunately, the priestess ring gets Rhen kidnapped and sold into slavery.. etcetc...
A lot of Aveyond and Ahriman's Prophecy are about the side quests. If you walk into a town, you pretty much want to interact with everybody and you always get some kind of information or side quest from them (both games have a journal which lists all the sidequests so you can keep track of them all). There isn't too much battle strategy involved like in Everlong, where the battles are completely dependent on strategy in order to beat them. In my opinion, the side quests are what makes both Aveyond and Ahriman's Prophecy fun.

For a review: I recently finished Love & War that was recommended from this site (link is on one of the previous pages). It was pretty good. The bosses are infinitely harder than any other RPGs I've played (not many, to be fair), so that was a little frustrating. Also, the structure/plot of the game is very rigid, which is kind of annoying at times. But other than that, it's pretty fun The sequel is being made now, and I'll definitely play it when it comes out.

Question about " Legacies of Dondoran" - For anyone who has played that game, I can't find any help/walkthrough etc on it. I am stuck in my quest for the 5 pieces of the Celestial Nexus. I have 3 pieces now, and I can't get into Venom Depths, which suggests to me I need to go elsewhere 1st, but I can't figure out where. I've gone to the Shrine of Humility, rescued the princess from the dragon, and been in Bismark Rift again. Any help would be great b/c I am getting tired of flying around on my dragon trying to figure out where I am supposed to go next. Thanks! addendum: I just figured it out! Nevermind, thanks! ;D

dgfurman: Have you found any maps anywhere? I just got appointed commander in chief of the allied forces in the first big battle (I forget the name of the town, but it's where you get to speak with the king and plan the battle. For some stupid reason I have to fight the artillery myself, and I've got to beat all enemies within 6 minutes. Well, as I am a planner and not an arcade kind of guy, that's virtually impossible for me. So a little help on the layout of that particular battlefield would be most helpful.

dinkateur - I have been at this game for over a month now, and I enjoy it a lot, but what I don't like (which you will get into more and more), is that there are timed arcade type "runs" or battles that you have to do, which can be really frustrating. To anwer your question, no, I have not found any maps, forums, or anything, about Dondoran. Luckily, it is fairly straightforward, and with much perserverance, I have figured things out on my own so far. Of course, the real frustrating part is that you can't save whenever you want to, and that you will get killed very often, and have to start over at your last save point. However, b/c this game is has a lot more arcade type "run thru the dungeon b4 you get zapped by the evil light that's chasing you" or "finish this battle within 6 min" stuff, it's prob. to our advantage that you get killed during that stuff, and have to start that whole sequence over. I say that b/c in those kind of timed situations, if you could save in the middle, you might save some stupid error that you did, which would not allow you to complete that course of action. I am on the last chapter of the game now (which is turning out to be quite long), and I really have enjoyed the story, and developing my characters strengths etc. But I am frustrated that I have been in the same dungeon now for several wks (Venom Depths), and altho I know what I need to do, sometimes I have had to purposely start the whole length of the caverns over again. I think I will have to do it again just to level up b/c the area I need to get into now, the demons are too strong for me, and where I'm at, I can't level up b/c I've got several killer lights chasing me. How annoying is that??? But if you need help with a certain quest just let me know. Most of this game is doing the same thing over and over and over again until you figure the strategy, layout of the area that you're in etc. And the timed battles seem impossible, but you can do them, once you figure out where you need to go and which direction your enemies are coming from. Good luck!

Thanks, dgfurman, for the info. I think I'll stick to Everlong, at least for the moment. I don't really like the kind of actions you describe (the arcade kind of thing). It's a shame though, because the game looks and feels great!
Maybe I'll come back to it sometime.

dinkateur - that can be frustrating at times, but it is a really good game, and believe me, if I can do it, then anyone can, so don't give up on it!

Well, unfortunately it looks like I will be giving up on Dondoran, and I'm at the very end of the game. I'm stuck, and the only thing I can find to do is fight Ishatul (the big baddie in the game), but everytime I try to, the game crashes with an error message. So that's that. Too bad, b/c it's a really good game. Now I will try "Three the Hard Way".....
