Last warning brain. Post in the appropriate section (General Discussion) or I will have to remove your posting privileges.
As for the boss in question, that's not the correct name. Try defending before the enemy casts Tail Laser. It follows a set pattern; learn it and anticipate the attack.

If you are having difficulty with this boss then Everlong may not be the game for you. The later battles will be exponentially more difficult than this one against "Conception" at the inn in West Minister. You also expressed difficulty with the puzzles in the Void, which further makes me think you may not be able to progress through the game without great frustration.
If you still want to forge ahead I can give you some tips for this boss. Since this is your first time playing Everlong you may have not realized you must equip skills via the Skill Shard system. If you do not do this the game is nigh impossible. Make sure for this battle that Julia has as many healing spells as you can give her, and equip Sammy with "Mantra" so he can also help heal the entire party. If possible give Drakeor "Chakra" so he can heal himself. Buy extra Potion items from the item store if you need them. You may want to buy some Heal items as well if you are running low since the attack "Dust Torrent" will blind your heroes making it tough for them to attack physically.
Conception doesn't have any weaknesses or strengths, so there is no special offensive tactic here. The only key to this fight is to anticipate the use of "Tail Laser" against your party which is extremely easy in this case compared to later in the game when there are only subtle or no cues. Pay attention to what the enemy does every time it takes a turn. When you see it take an action (blink) but seemingly do nothing, this is your indicator that Tail Laser will be cast next round. This means you want to select the "Defend" command with every hero to halve the damage from this attack. It's not necessary but it will help.
Use Sammy's "Mantra" skill discussed earlier to heal the entire party after Tail Laser if you need to, or have everyone use a potion on themselves. Alternatively Julia can cast Cure, Drakeor can use Chakra to heal himself, and Brad can use Heal Blade. With all these skills and items you should be able to easily recover HP.
As Conception gets lower on HP it will start casting more powerful spells more often, so you may want to save Brad and Drakeor's MP for later in the fight to dish out some finishing damage. Save Sammy and Julia's MP for healing rather than using offensive skills to damage the boss.
