Hi everyone! I haven't been around much this past week and I'm sorry for that. I was pretty sick for almost the whole week and then I got the e-mail I've been waiting months for. Not sure if I can say this here or not (just delete this if you want, DJC), but LAXIUS FORCE II IS OUT!!!! While Everlong remains pretty much my favorite game of all time, Indinera Games has done some amazing things with RPGXP. If you haven't tried any of their games (although I'm sure most people here have played Laxius Power I, II and III), DO IT! The first game (chronologically by story) is Aldorlea Tales: 3 Stars of Destiny. It's not a free game, but it is worth every penny. It's HUGE! Then follow Random, Sarah, Luci and the gang through Laxius Power I, II and III as they battle the Order. Then, just when you think they've defeated them, along comes Laxius Force! LF I came out about a year ago and is just as addicting as the rest. Again, the LF games aren't free (LP I-III are free and made with RM2k3), but well worth it. If you've got some time and a few bucks (and are maybe getting a bit frustrated with ToKM like I am!) check them out. Again, DJC, if I'm not supposed to say this here, just delete my post. However, over on the LF forums, they do link to Everlong as a great free game! Links to all the games are found on the LF forum: www.laxiusforce.org

This isn't an advertising forum, but it's perfectly fine to post recommendations or news concerning another game's release and I encourage it. That's why there's the huge stickied games topic too, it's a good thing to share fun games with each other (especially free ones). You can sticky this too if you want, I just don't know how many people will see it since the board has been really slow for months now.
Years ago Everlong got many of its first players from the Laxius Power community. Back then there weren't quite so many. I'm glad to hear Indinera is not only still making them but also doing professional projects, selling them as indie products. If Amanda can do it I really hope more people can.

I know a lot of people may be less inclined to play a game they have to pay for, but as Amaranth and Aldorlea Games have shown, it can definitely be worth it.
I'm really impressed by the abilities both of those groups have and their talent is amazing (as is yours!). Everyone should at least play the hour long demo of all the games on both forums; if for no other reason than seeing the awesome mapping and eventing skills that are displayed. Any time anyone can make a game with that much depth, detail and intriguing story, I'm just amazed.
BTW: Indy says that LFII is going to be even longer than any of the LP games! I'm only on the 3rd chapter (and I'm sure I've missed a lot), but so far, it's the best one yet!

Indinera is back in business... that's good to hear. I will look into playing a demo for Laxius Force, thanks ilsepants. DJC - Don't you think it would be good to make a small marketing campaign for the upcoming rewritten version of Everlong? We could make banners, some networking with other game websites, post in forums... it would bring a fresh breath to the game.

DJC - Don't you think it would be good to make a small marketing campaign for the upcoming rewritten version of Everlong? We could make banners, some networking with other game websites, post in forums... it would bring a fresh breath to the game. I'm not going to stop anyone from spreading the word, in fact I encourage it. I just never liked pimping my own work to be honest. I'm also really disappointed with the revision work. Not because it's going poorly (though it has gone slowly and I'll have to cut many things), but rather I am seeing how horrible parts of the game really are. I can't possibly rewrite all of them or make the necessary additions to fix things. But this usually happens every time I do a big update. I just have to accept I can only improve Everlong so much and then that's it. The other thing about advertising for a release is the lack of testing. I often make mistakes that need to be corrected. I don't mind fixing a bug that's found weeks later, but to have hordes of players all encountering bugs that break the plot after the first day and all going nuts on the forums about it is not what I want. I am going to try really hard to finish with enough time to do a lengthy play-through. Maybe after that I'll feel more confident in the game's quality. There's still a lot of work to do even with the stuff I've decided to cut, though, so we'll see. I'm definitely working as fast as I can.

You make very fair points, as always.
As I said in my original review, the script really is quite inconsistent... it swings constantly from fantastic prose to shoddy writing. I understand you are fixing that somewhat in the new revision, together with making the battles less fiendish, so I really think the game is about ready for primetime with those changes in place. It'd be really cool to see more people playing what I consider the best RPG Maker game out there (would be second best if Liz had finished A Blurred Line, but he didn't, so...).
I'm more than willing to come up with a few banners and help out with PR. If you don't wanna do the networking, I can try it... just keep us posted on whether you were able to do a full playthrough test or not. Would be cool to synch the release with some marketing.

The characters are supposed to be using different dialects, but even they aren't consistent sometimes. I've been trying to fix that, but there's just too much dialog, and I can't rewrite it all. And then there's some scenes that are so poorly done I want to puke. I was looking at the last Dynamo encounter in the Dreaming Forest yesterday and became so disgusted trying to edit it I had to quit working for the day. Most of the new (good) work will be in the first half of the game. I just ran out of patience and time after the months it took to get that far. There will still be significant plot changes after that, but generally no new event sequences. It's rather difficult after you reach the point in the story where you can choose any party you want. We'll see whether the final product of this revision is worthy of prime time or the toilet.
