OK, I've dug up the game again and realized just now that some things have been changed. First, The new status aliment names such as "aneurysm", "cripple", "migraine" and such are a nice touch of originality, though the only problem is I find myself not having any clue what they actually DO. It would be ideal if you could implement some indications regarding that into the game. Second, the new color-coded doors when you return to North Outpost look good, and I supposed it is intentional that the ones in treasure chest rooms look the same as before? On the other hand, what the hell is wrong with Lich? Every time he uses Backfire, it's an instant Game Over for me. Is it supposed to be like that? Third, I must have the pleasure of announcing that I've run into very few bugs so far, graphic or otherwise. The game refused to sart twice because it failed to lad a file ("horses" and "vehicle"), but that's probably my emergency laptop screwing up. On the other hand, the HUD when entering Triangle Island base still displays twice in a row. Fourth, the third round against Gerovitus seems slightly to easy, though it's no big deal. But Aegir and Druidbane are clearly too hard. I mean, I had no problem beating them, but when the next four bosses, Ament(who has too much HP) and the three bosses during the sky battle end up being utter pushovers in comparison, something just feels wrong. Fifth, I did not re-patch the game before I started playing. Should I do that once I'm out of North Outpost in case there have been new updates in between? Sixth, if anyone has trouble against the bosses in this game, I have started a YouTube playlist in which I beat all of them, recorded directly from the computer screen: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL72F0B1479BFED3E4&feature=mh_lolzFinally, I launched a TvTropes page for the game here: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/Everlong

Aneurysm is Mindblow IIRC it immobilizes you and probably halves your mind... Cripple is halved speed. Migraine is halved mind. Atrophy is halved strength. Fragile is halved defense.
I agree that Aegir is very hard too but I don't think Druidbane was hard... In my opinion Aegir is the hardest boss in the 1st half of the game.
Videos are cool!!! It'll be nice to watch them.

Are you not playing the current version, treasonwall? I might have fixed some of those issues or adjusted the bosses. It's been almost a year since that last patch, however, so I cannot remember. If you patched during gameplay it shouldn't matter.
I'd love to enhance the battle engine, so you could see how conditions effect your heroes among other things. That's unfortunately not possible with RM2K3. I planned to have a Help section available in the main menu, but that was cut from the game due to time constraints. The best I could do was color code the graphics to match their positive condition counterparts like Focus or Might, but with down arrows instead.
The only doors in North Outpost that should be color coded are those that require keys. I think there's an error with Lich's Backfire code. It's supposed to be part of that enemy's pattern, but it's also triggered by zero damage or greater. Not supposed to be like that.
I recall another playing having a problem with the horse and vehicle graphic files. I think they're in the current patch. Not sure how the triangle Island HUD is repeating. Code looks good, but maybe there's an errant line or event on that map.
I think I intentionally made the fourth battle against Gerovitus easier since you have to fight a second boss afterward. It's meant as a warm up. Aegir and Druidbane have definitely undergone rebalancing over the years. The problem is their severe elemental weakness necessitated harder attacks since they can be vanquished quickly. They could probably stand a nerfing. Ament has all that HP so he'll survive long enough to call his minions. I would have preferred an alternate scripting method, but engine limitations. The sky bosses are less difficult since you cannot gain levels and sometimes don't have access to buying items.
Glad to hear people are still playing and enjoying the game.
Loof123 has the conditions corrects. Thanks for that and the bug reports, treasonwall!

About the Triangle Island Hud, when you first enter the base you get the Hud. But when you walk along to corridor to the main area, you get the hud again...

Well, I couldn't tell you whether or not I was playing the most recent version before, but I am now since I just re-patched it.
Regarding the doors, I'm talking about the ones that DO require color keys, but also lead to treasure chests. Those still look as grey as the ones that don't need keys.
For the Gerovitus battle, I was talking about the third one, not the fourth. I know it used to be too hard, but it seems you nerfed it a bit strongly. But like I said, it's not really all that jarring.
And Lich is seriously impossible. Should I just skip him and leave whatever treasure he's guarding? I don't remember what it is so i'm not positive I want to do that.

I recall beating Lich in my latest playthrough. But he never used Backfire on me... Guess I beat it too quickly hehe...
IIRC it was either an axe or a hammer...

I'll try bum rushing him then. should be able to since I'm overlevelled (no Gargoyles). Then again if it's an axe it doesn't matter, I never use those.
Oh and before I forget, thanks for clearing up the status aliments.

No problem. Glad to help. I think it was Thor's Hammer... not so sure though, because I never used it.
EDIT:
What? I was like level 42 when I finished both Tower Of Auctus and Tenobrosus Specus, but was Level 48 when I finished the war. For that reason I never fought with enemies at Tyr-Anon after that if you don't count the red chests.
EDIT 2: BTW Since you were making boss videos, thought I'd share the list of all bosses until you get the airship + locations of where you fight them.
(Dunno if I can put this in spoiler... If I can can anybody tell me how?)
Mandatory: Kraken - Tyr-Anon Island Gerovitus (1st Time) - Tyr-Anox Castle Ull - North Outpost Charybdis - Water Caverns Blackguard - Portown Hideout Bog Devil - Eridwell's Refuge Gerovitus (2nd Time) - Valiantide Hideout Biggs and Wedge - Valiantide Hideout Grolantor - Void Apollyon - Comstock Inn Gerovitus (3rd Time) - Seraphia War Yarthkin - Mt. Periculum Magus And Arma - Tower Of Propugnaculum Veneficus - Tower Of Propugnaculum Liquid Flame - Mt. Asper Dolus - Alveus Castle Aegir - Alveus Castle Druidbane - Senium Forest Dr. Ament - Tower Of Auctus General Aries - War Of The Eclipse Fulgora - War Of The Eclipse Ashura - War Of The Eclipse Necrotic Gargoyle - North Outpost King Dragonfly - West Outpost Demon Wall - South Outpost Gerovitus (4th Time) - Tyr-Anox Castle Draug Gerovitus - Tyr-Anox Castle Dynamo (1st Time) - West Tower Valkyrie - West Tower Nergal - Occultus Gaza Laverna - Vanguard Marowit (1st Time) - East Tower Muspell - Tower Of Auctus Khali - Tower Of Auctus Dynamo (2nd Time) - Inceptum Terrorpin - Aditus Grotto Flidais - Viridis Mons Guardian Aquaron - Nemus Aevum Guardian Tyrano - Nemus Aevum Guardian Dragona - Nemus Aevum Guardian Kuwadora - Nemus Aevum Pandemonium - Nemus Aevum
Optional: Dokkalfar - Tenobrosus Specus Water Dragon - Nexus Of Ordeals (Water Trial) Wind Dragon - Nexus Of Ordeals (Wind Trial) Aestus - Temple Of Aestus Arctica - Temple Of Arctica Gygax - Temple Of Gygax Mjollnir - Temple Of Mjollnir Coriolis - Temple Of Coriolis Diablos - Temple Of Diablos Lixandru - Temple Of Lixandru Meridion - Temple Of Meridion Tyr - Temple Of Tyr Zombie Dragon - Nexus Of Ordeals (Zombie Trial) Gold Dragon - Nexus Of Ordeals (Gold Trial) Osama - Incultus Regnum Prison
The last boss I fought was Pandemonium. I didn't add bosses like Lockness or Calbrenda yet because I didn't fight them in my current playthrough.

It was indeed Thor's Hammer, but it felt good to toast him anyway. The Gargoyle boss is ready to be recorded.
Those are not spoilers for me, I beat the 3.2 and above version of the game at least two times before. But those who have never gotten that far probably shouldn't read that. I wouldn't have missed any of them either way, but thanks nonetheless.

I meant to put them in spoilers not for because them being spoilers, but because it would be a long post and people could shorten it if they wanted to. Anyways will you do the King Dragonfly and Demon Wall too???
Also another question. Do you think of including optional battles like Dragons and Gods?
Yet another one, Will you beat Khaer Magnus on a New Game+ or Continue+?
EDIT: I watched the first two videos and they were good but one thing bothered me. The font. Did you do the font patch in later bosses???

About the Triangle Island Hud, when you first enter the base you get the Hud. But when you walk along to corridor to the main area, you get the hud again... The only possible problem I can see is with the teleport event code that brings you inside the base. I can try altering the order of executed commands and that might fix it. I was expecting an extra event somewhere on the map, though.

I don't remember what it is so i'm not positive I want to do that. It's possible I missed some doors in North Outpost. My intention was to only color those that required keys, so players would know when they were stuck or could advance based on the keys they'd obtained. The third Gerovitus battle was reduce in difficulty because you have no chance to buy items or gain levels if you save just prior to it. That's just the nature of the plot sequence it's part of. I think you at least get a chance in the current version to set equipment and skills prior to the fight. I erred on the side of too easy to eliminate frustration and not interrupt the narrative with boss fights that require multiple attempts. Lich is broken and what he's guarding isn't THAT essential. He probably could be defeated with either several single powerful attacks before he takes a turn, or nothing but very small damage hits. Backfire responds to the highest damage dealt in a single attack. I think that part of his code should be working correctly.

For that reason I never fought with enemies at Tyr-Anon after that if you don't count the red chests. Some players manage to reach the airship war at a low level, maybe from running constantly. I think there's one repeatable battle during the war as a fail safe, but most players probably miss this. They don't have a chance to raise their levels further if they need to for these boss battles. I should probably just make infinite random encounters inside the ships or something. Also to be honest about balancing, I still have not played through the game since the last major revision. I've been taking player feedback at face value, only checking numbers and attack frequency. Battles are not as balanced as they'd otherwise be.

Maybe in my next two playthroughs should they happen, in which case I'll re-arrange the playlist to fit them in. Optional bosses: Yes. The first four of those are already recorded. Khaer Magnus: Continue+ mode. New Game+ is just not my thing. Either way, I've pulled it off before so I have no reason not to do it again. And I'll record Ultimate Weapon before confronting Expirius' second form of course. I'll also try to do Osama at a reasonably low level. Font patch: not used so far, I can read it just fine. Maybe I should try it just to see if it's any better.

I did Osama before sailing to Forgotten Continent so it'd doable then.
About Font Patch IMO it's much more readable with it.
