How come maximize attributes does not effect speed?

How come maximize attributes does not effect speed? Playing with the speed attribute tends to disrupt the modified engine in battle, which sets a limit of 255. It would also imbalance fights too much as well as the differentiation between characters. I'm not happy with how the speed attribute has been handled in the RM2K3 releases, but it's the best that can be done given the limitations.

I realized that 999 speed should not be a problem because 5 Crimson Beherit could only be obtained after at least 1 run through the game. So it could be a not so easy first run and a very easy second run.

It has more to do with the battle speed algorithm and engine limitations.

Well the Lucky 7 Handicap that is in the battle area. It gives all players 777 speed, and it doesn't seem to crash, lag, or disrupt the gameplay in anyway. So why would Maximize Attributes (999 speed) do that? It would just be a little bit more than 777.

I'm not sure why, but in the Goliath Patch by Aten he warns not to set speed above 255 and hard coded the limit for monsters in the editor. I should fix the Lucky 7 bonus, that's an oversight on my part allowing the function to still change speed. Now I'm wondering if speed changes at the arena are a potential culprit behind the freeze bug.
If I ever finish the next version, these points are all moot, however, since it'd employ a plugin that changes the speed algorithm.

Very close. I'm tracking down the last bugs currently. Then I just have to decide the last additions and cut everything else. There's a few fan favorite suggestions I'd like to implement, such as getting two particular characters back in your party at the end of the game. I'd really like to be done this month, though. What other new stuff can we expect in the new version? And I must say I am waiting patiently for this. Everlong is my favorite Rpg maker 2003 game, and another excuse to replay it would be just great. Hopefully you can release it before my winter break so I can spend my entire break playing it And although the forum is mostly dead, people like me are awaiting the new version with anticipation, so don't be discouraged! You are a great developer! Oh, and, after this version, what are the future plans of Everlong?

It's really awesome to see there's still interest in the game after all these years. It reaffirms my decision to invest time in this new release for long time fans. I could release soon, but I want to complete an entire test play to guarantee the quality and functionality of what might be the last rm2k3 release. There's still plenty of gameplay additions I'd like to insert as well, and these could add significant time. Development always takes longer than planned. I've spent the last week trying to just eliminate an occasional airship crash bug. I reworked the entire world map events and vehicle handling, but remain unsure if I succeeded. As for future plans, I'm going to shutdown the website, lock these forums, and move everything to rpgmaker.net so it's all in one place. Then I'm taking a break, but would like to explore the new RPG Maker MV eventually. I'd start with a small project to test the engine, maybe free. If I'm encouraged by the results, I might finally commercialize Everlong. I've saved most of the story changes and character development for this possibility, and starting fresh would be the only way to address the game's shortcomings and achieve my true vision. That's a hypothetical future, however, so one thing at a time. What other new stuff can we expect in the new version? And I must say I am waiting patiently for this. I'd love to offer my help with testing, but school is gonna keep me really busy I think. If you release it around June tho, I could help And what kind of gameplay additions? And as sad as I will be that the forums are getting locked, that is a wise move. And hopefully you can achieve that vision of releasing Everlong commercially. I know I would buy it. This game is much better than many of the commercial rpg games out there, imagine how it would be remade in a new engine with original graphics! Good luck DJC! We are counting on you!

It's a long list of changes at this point, but most importantly utilizing Dynrpg fixes the battle speed and encounter cap issues. All weapons have unique animations. Enemy HP, AP, and time to turn are displayed. Players can switch between traditional and gauge style battles in the options menu. Hero statistics can range above 999, and HP and AP above 9999. Counter attack behavior improved and expanded. New conditions Reflect, Blink, Drown, Seizure, Terror. Heroes can wear more types of equipment and weapons. New accessories that boost EXP, GP, items earned, change encounter rates. New statistics tracking. Plenty of bug fixes. And there's still some big ones I haven't implemented yet and am considering, but that's a taste. Well, hopefully you can add all you are planning. Woah! an update! I just started playing this game (had it in my backlog for 5 years) and I guess im going to hold out a little bit longer until you release this update. So nice to see when a developer does something out of love such as this. With all the experience you must have acquired in the past years Im certain a commercial title on a newer rpg maker by you would be something great,
