I finished the game like 9 years ago and it still is one of my favorites. Gunna play it again for nostalgia Just wondering if you still have older versions of the game like v1.xx Without digging too deep, it looks like the oldest version of Everlong that I still have is 2.16, but I always strongly recommend players install the latest release. There's always more bug fixes, more features, and I can better provide support. I'm working on an anniversary edition, hopefully to release this year, but I don't know how far I'll get. I've just begun with the story and plot additions I always planned, but it's a monumental amount of work.

Started on the newest version. Everything feels like new since it's been so long. I prefer the old turn-based. Real-time is more challenging but not a bad thing.
Anyway, looking forward to your new work. Keep it up!

Anniversary edition? That'll be something to look forward to. Honestly, I keep all previous releases that I can on hard drive since there are versions I prefer more than others. Soon, it looks like it, I will have just one disk full of everlong lol. I will say it again: I really like the characters and the sheer scope of the story. This is a ful-blown adventure, as it should be. I am now replaying the new release and I just ralised that when I posted here some time ago I may have confused Julia with Vixen. I slapped myself on the forehead today once it ocurred to me. anyway, good idea with fixing Julia's storyline. The previous one was a bit distatesful, to be honest, and Julia shoud be a capable girl not some damsel in distress after all. I still don't like Vixen as a character much, whilst I love all others. It must me just me though. Thaks for such lovely characters and well written story that I play and reply with each new version and have just as much fun. Is it jus me or did you add new dialogue lines for Glen? I could swear some of the lines are new. But then again my memory of the past playthroughs is hazy since I don't play everlong more often than once every 1-2 years. I get pulled pack if you announce changes to sidestories. Funnily enough, while I find the game much easier after so many years of simply knowing it I really keep enjoying it the same. But maybe that's something to consider...I don't remember what changes on game plus (that's the last version I played, I never played with the other continue plus because I prefer new game plus, but perhaps the bosses could be coded to be more difficult on second playthrough in the game plus? Or maybe their difficulty could be randomised for each playthrough. After so many years of knowing the games, the bosses are no surprise. It's fine for me since I usually play to refresh the story - even though I don't really use or need storymode- b ut I was just wondering whether that may be something that could work to make the game more refreshing for other old-time players?
I do hope the changes to sidestories won't be too major, though. I always thought most of the character's stories are fine as they are and don't require much more tweaking and I'm glad to see you're not really changing them too much over the years. With the exception of Julia which did indeed warrant a change, though I'm not sure the scene in Aurora Temple makes much sense now after this change.
Anyway,I wish you good luck. Will look forward to anniversary edition. May everlong go on ever long. Now I'm disappearing into the game again. So long, thank you so much for your hard work as always and best wishes.

and by randomize boss monsters- I mean randmozie their attributes. Either for a new playthrough, or....if I leave the screen with the boss/next to the boss and reenter it again, the boss would have different pattern of attacks and different stats. That would assure some freshness and become unpredictable I think... if it's possible to do ir would that be too much I wonder. KJust a random thought that came up as I was playing the game this week.

It may just be another effort that fizzles, but I've completed the preliminary work and am slowly progressing with the plot and character additions. Posts like yours also provide a great deal of motivation. I know players don't like when I make major changes, but mostly I'm expanding character development with flashbacks or new scenes, rather than drastic alterations. Much of the material was originally intended but cut from past releases, so it has a natural place. My hope is it will make the characters more distinguishable and emotionally accessible via enhanced personal development.
There may be new dialog for Glen or other characters in newer releases that you don't remember, or it could be the result of choosing a conversation branch you haven't explored before. You could check the update notes, though they're not usually scene specific.
Thanks to a DynRPG plugin, it's possible to scale monster attributes, which is something I'm considering for New Game+ and in other scenarios, like the final battle or Battle Arena to preserve challenge. Changing attack patterns is a little more tricky, but possible. I would not want to randomize most boss patterns, however, since this makes it impossible for players to use preparation to gain an advantage, and many sorely need this to complete the game.

Another huge fan of your game here. I do not get tired of repeating that Everlong is the truly BEST RPGmaker game out there (along with To the moon, but of course they are not much alike) I love the idea of new flashblacks to the protagonists. I love how you support your old game and keep updating it. Such masterpiece really deserves some kind of money to its author. I'm really looking forward to playing that anniversary edition, and i will also share this game with every person i can. Keep it awesome.

Is there any chance of the new version being made compatible with Choco R2k Player (an RPG Maker 2003 emulator for Android). I would really like to play this on my phone, but the main character's health is automatically set to -2 health and dies in the first battle when I use Choco.

I'm trying to construct this update one scene at a time. It's a massive amount of work, but I'm liking the results so far. Posts like yours help maintain my motivation. I want to make this the best version of Everlong, the game I always envisioned but never had time to fully complete.

I would really like to play this on my phone, but the main character's health is automatically set to -2 health and dies in the first battle when I use Choco. The new version will not be fully compatible with any emulators. In order to solve certain issues, such as battle speed, I'm using a hack called DynRPG that is specific to the RM2K3 engine and Windows platform. The game may still run in an emulator, just many of the features will not function correctly or at all. I've never heard of Choco Player, but with a quick glance it appears a work in progress. Hopefully the author is ironing out those battle system bugs at this time. It's not an error specific to Everlong, but to the emulation of the RM2K3 engine. It's also possible some patches I've used, such as the Goliath patch that increases certain variable ranges, are causing issues. I'll try to keep an eye on that emulator's development. A different but similar project, EasyRPG, also emulates RPG Maker games on Android and other systems, but it does not run battles correctly yet either. They're working on an editor, and if that supports scripting or alternative solutions to the issues I'm fixing with DynRPG, I could do a full featured release that plays on multiple platforms, including Android. I think it would be exciting to have mobile support since I myself have an Android tablet. We'll see what the future holds.
