Is anyone out there? Ok, so I'm having a HORRIBLE time trying to defeat the Sanctuary Guardian on the Forgotten Continent, and I'm hoping hoping hoping there's some trick that I'm missing. I don't want to wander aimlessly and raise levels. He gets me with the "devastate" or something spell (the one that either kills the characters or makes them REALLY not ok) every time. My players are all at Level 41, and I've tried different combinations of characters. Please help!

The Sanctuary Keeper represents the last leap in boss difficulty throughout the game. You have to consider a large range of elemental attacks, status effects, overcome a wide speed gap, and try and figure out the enemy attack pattern.
To start with you want to protect against Disaster, which is the spell that causes nearly every possible status effect. The best counter is to equip your White Wizard with a Ribbon. There was one in a red chest back in Aditus Grotto as well as a secret one in Nemus Aevum. It is also possible to have a Protect Ring (won from one of the chocobo mini-games), which will not only block most debilitating status effects but also halve all elemental defense.
Mega Death is another status attack to watch out for. If you found the Safety Bit in Nemus Aevum or still have the Charm Shield from Senium Forest those will both prevent instant death for the characters without Ribbons or Protect Rings.
Next up is elemental defenses. As mentioned before Protect Rings are useful here. If you found the Mirror Shield in Nemus Aevum make sure someone has it equipped since it also halves all elemental damage. If you found the Minerva equipment in the forest that will help female characters against four elements. Mix and match with the rest of the equipment you have, focusing to protect against Dark, Fire, and Earth.
To narrow that speed gap and get your White Wizard the first turn every round, try using a special skill on the Sanctuary Keeper to halve his agility (Agility Break/Banishing Blade/Climhazard/No Mercy). You can also halve his armor though unless you're using regular attacks it won't help that much. If you still need more speed try using Fast. Slow will not be very effective unless you first boost your mind power.
Attacks that follow a regular pattern include: MP Buster, Demolish followed by Grand Train, and Mega Death followed by Disaster. Keep an eye out for the precursors so you know when the big hit is coming. Counter MP Buster with a Mega-Ether; it won't happen that often.

;D ;D Yippee!!!! I finally beat the Sanctuary Guardian. I had to go back and find the Ribbon in Aditus Grotto (although I never did find the one in Nemus Aevum) and get the protect ring. They made ALL the difference. Thanks! ;D ;D

Here's some tips for Flidais (version 2.x) from a previous thread: Power and Mental Break will work against her. Being a plant she is also weak against Axes and plant attribute weapons. She will use Seize every 8 turns, and there is also a pattern to her spell 8.0, which is also always followed by Ent Fury. When she starts to get weaker she'll become tougher, and at 10% she will use nothing but Taproot. At that point finish her off with some big attacks. I also recommend using Drakeor if you're having problems, since his Aura spell + Earth elemental equipment will negate most of Flidais' spells. Most important is Earth elemental protection. The more characters that have this the easier the fight will be. If you still have older equipment, try the Gaea Gear, Blossom Robe, Earth Ring, Gaea (hat for Vetu), Gem Shield, etc. Level 35 to 40 is good for fildias p.s. Using the search function can help you out so that you don't have to wait for someone to reply. Just enter the bosses name and a big time period to search and something should be listed.
